-Don’t panic. This team didn’t play 60 minutes tonight, and really haven’t played 60 minutes the entire season, but the season doesn't consist of 4 games.
-It was interesting that out veteran defensemen were the ones that were giving the puck away, while our AHL Dmen played solid.
-That Engelland fight…wow.
-How about the Leafs? I love their style of play. Of course, tonight, I hate it. It’s also new to see them get their offense contributions for role players.
-Gustavsson was really good tonight. He made the big saves that allowed his team to win.
-Fleury didn’t get much help tonight, but he wasn’t very good. He seemed to go down very early, which made it easy for the Leafs to go upstairs.
-Crosby had an absolutely atrocious 1st period, with at least 4 giveaways. His linemates aren’t really helping him at all right now, but he can’t be that passive. He got better as the game went along, but still wasn’t Sidney Crosby.
-Malkin was just meh all game. That penalty shot was pretty pathetic. At first, I thought he was going to do the old shootout move against Detroit, but no..he just missed the cage.
-I’m not really sure what’s going on with the 2 headed monster right now…they’re not playing up to snuff and it’s hurting the already short handed team.
-Tangradi look good, but the bottom line was Crosby set him up twice for chances and he couldn’t even take the pass. I know he’s new to world-class passing, but that’s what’s going to come on with playing in the top 6.
-That being said, I bet DB is deeply regretting not having Comrie in the lineup tonight. Godard didn’t do much, and the game as a whole wasn’t really chippy. Hate to say it, but he probably would’ve taken both of Sid’s passes cleanly.
-Martin had a bad giveaway that lead to the Pens first goal, but it’s hard to be upset at him. What he’s doing for this team, especially with two mainstays out, means more than one goal against.
-Overall, the play was sloppy on both sides tonight.
