-What can I say about Brent Johnson? He’s a wall right now. Other than being off his angle on the PK and having one go in off a few sticks, he’s just been great. I said before this game that I’d be surprised to see Fleury not get the start against Nashville on Thursday. But, with three days off and the way Beej has been playing I don’t know anymore.
-Sidney Crosby. Best player on the ice tonight. A goal and an assist isn’t something spectacular for a guy like Crosby, but his play in his own end during the first and second periods was fabulous. If he doesn’t play that well, especially going against Ottawa’s first line most of the time, we are probably talking about a different score right now. I would even venture to say that he was better than some of the defensemen he was playing with in his own end tonight. Oh, and by the way, Lindas1st Sid went 10-8 in the circle tonight which isn’t 58%, but it’s over 50 – like usual.
-Mark “Grease” LeTestTube. He’s just on absolute fire right now. He’s bound to cool off somewhat, but let’s just see if he can keep it going until Staal comes back. Did anyone notice that DB put Grease with Koon and Duper with 10 minutes left in the 3rd until the rest of the game (Sid was put with the 4th line guys)? That’s a nice reward. He’ll be seeing much more of that if he keeps playing the way he’s playing.
-It was nice to see Malkin finally get on track. He’s just a monster on the puck right now. Unfortunately, his weakness is when he doesn’t have the puck, but now that he’s playing wing, he looks good. It’s still a little weird seeing him play the wing, but you can just tell this season is going to be a lot different than last year.
-How about the PP? After a horrible first one, the next two were absolutely textbook. I think the boys saw exactly what happens when you get the puck to the net – fortunate bounces. I won’t talk about the last one because I honestly think the team was just trying to get the game over with, but man those middle two looked good. I’m excited to see it go against a dreadful Nashville PK on Thursday.
-Ben Lovejoy was all over the ice tonight. Seemed to be taking shots from everywhere.
-TK looked good tonight and Comrie looked a lot better.
-How about Talbo? He could’ve had 2 short handed goals tonight.
-Don’t look now but Gogo’s got a 7 game point streak. A very quiet 7 game point streak if you ask me.
-It was nice to see Dupuis get on track tonight with an ugly, lucky goal. Hopefully, that upstarts his season.
-Just as Grease seems to be moving up the depth chart, Tangradi is moving down it. He’s great in front of the net, but this guy doesn’t look like an NHL forward right now to me.
-Finally, I’m glad Gonch was received warmly tonight. I knew that it would mostly be cheers, but I figured there would be a few idiots in the crowd. From what I’ve heard, they’re weren’t.
-Great win tonight!
